According to a tradition, on 22 June 1797 the first mayor was elected , Francesco D'Amore began to build this house, the first officially cooked, with the use of mortar. With his dispatch, in fact, the King decreed that Alberobello could make homes in the way most convenient to them, without being hindered by the Count of Conversano. The event was further demonstrated by the small inscription, under the arch that marks the area of the balcony, which contains the following inscription: EX Auctoritate REGIA - HOC primum ERECTUM - AD 1797. Its location, in Piazza Ferdinando IV of Borbone, it is not random. Indeed, with his first plan was perfectly visible from the nearby residence of the Counts. This structure represents a real technical-constructive step by the first houses in nineteenth trullo housing. In reality, the front left to imagine the presence of interior quite different from those that actually are. The room access, instead of the usual cone stone, presents once a star. All other environments are not very dissimilar from those of a trullo houses surrounding the house. The only obvious element of uniqueness, if we exclude the use of mortar, is the elevated floor reached by a staircase outside. This consists of three narrow rooms conical, placed on different levels. In the first compartment, as determined by a wider trullo, follows a small conical environment, which was originally connected to the ground floor through a trapdoor. The last of these premises, which is based on the time a star of the main room below, allows the faces to the balcony. Most likely, for the building of the house, Francesco D'Amore a simple question caseddaro (mason), used to build or restore trulli. This is not surprising since, even in 1843, the minutes of the City Council shows that there was a local architect that could be part of the committee responsible for the care of the new buildings that were regular and not unpleasant architecture unless you wanted to define one of the architects or builders trullari unhappy. National monument since 1930, restored in 1951, Casa D'Amore currently hosts numerous art exhibitions.
